I must confess to you guys that this scrumptious Jalapeño Beer Bread was my first taste ever of any beer bread. My taste buds are pretty, pretty sure it won’t be my last! Because here’s the thing: I really don’t like beer, except when it is in micheladas. Otherwise, it’s a hard pass for me.

But not this time! For one, the Jalapeño Beer Bread smells a lot of beer while you are preparing it and baking it. Enough to make me think: “Oh, no! What have I done!” I almost dreaded tasting the bread.

But let me tell you: I was so wrong! Those 12 fl oz of beer the recipe calls for are pure gold! I couldn’t taste the beer at all. This became a thoroughly enjoyable, moist, decadent, cheesy and spicy beer bread.

It is delish and, best of all, since we used self-rising flour, we didn’t have to wait around for hours for the batter to rise. It is not only a quick process, but an instant one!

So, out there are many recipes of beer bread that are cheesy. I didn’t see many with Jalapeños. Our recipe calls for 1/2 cup to 1 cup of chopped pickled jalapeños. It is really a matter of taste and of how much heat you can take. Either way, you will not regret making this moist Jalapeño Beer Bread because all the ingredients combine so well!

I thought this bread is a great addition to your Super Bowl party menu. Pinky promise, whether or not the team you root for wins, you will do your touchdown dance once you taste this amazing bread. However, honestly, this is a recipe you can make for any occasion.

Like I said, it is not time-consuming at all, the preparation is so easy and you can’t beat that taste. So, what are we waiting for? Let’s get to it!

Ingredients

  • 8 tbsp butter melted, plus more for greasing the loaf pan
  • 2 3/4 cups self-rising flour do not pack the flour when you measure it. Packing it might result in dry bread.
  • 1 – 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese slighly heaping 1/3 cup
  • 1/3 cup shredded Jalapeño Pepper Jack cheese slighly heaping 1/3 cup
  • 1-12oz. can lager beer at room temperature
  • 1/2 to 1 cup pickled Jalapeños coarsely chopped

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Grease a 8" x 4" x 2 1/2" loaf pan with butter.
  • Combine the shredded cheeses. Measure 1/2 cup of the mixed shredded cheese and, using a fork, whisk it with the flour and sugar.
  • In another bowl, pour the beer. Add half of the melted butter to the beer and whisk together.
  • Pour the beer mixture into the flour and cheese. Fold just enough to combine. Do not overmix. There might be some lumps and that's okay. Transfer batter to the greased loaf pan and level the top of the batter with a spatula. Pour the remaining butter on top of the batter and top with the remaining shredded cheese and the chopped .Jalapeños. The batter will be thick. Place the loaf pan on a baking sheet (the batter might overflow while baking). Bake until golden brown, 1 hour and 10 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the bread comes out clean.
  • Cool down for 20 minutes before slicing. Unmold and enjoy warm. The Jalapeño Beer Bread is very nice on its own or with some butter lighly spread.
